At approximately 5:00 AM local time on March 30, the China National Tunnel Emergency Rescue China Railway No.2 Group Kunming Team, which was participating in rescue operations in Myanmar’s capital, Naypyidaw, successfully rescued an elderly individual trapped for nearly 40 hours under the rubble of a hospital. This marked the first survivor rescued by the China Railway No.2 Group Kunming Team in the Myanmar earthquake.
At noon on March 28, a 7.9-magnitude earthquake struck central Myanmar, followed by multiple aftershocks. The disaster resulted in significant casualties and property damage, severely affecting regions including Mandalay Province, Sagaing Province, and Naypyidaw. As of now, the death toll has reached 1,700.
