On March 24, the first batch of 14 ultra-pure high-manganese steel railway frogs designated for the EU market departed from China Railway Hi-Tech Industry’s subsidiary, China Railway Baoji Bridge Group, heading for Shanghai Port. This milestone signifies that the company’s frog products have received official recognition under EU railway technical standards, granting them a “passport” to serve the European railway market.
Railway frogs are key components in track intersections, enabling smooth train wheel transitions and guidance between different tracks. The newly exported the next-generation ultra-pure high-manganese steel frogs were specifically developed by China Railway Baoji Bridge Group for the EU railway network. These products, with fully independent intellectual property rights, represent the highest level of frog design and manufacturing in China.
Operational data from railway systems have shown that the new-generation ultra-pure high-manganese steel frogs have more than twice the lifespan of first-generation models and 1.5 times that of second-generation models. Their maximum load capacity reaches 600 million tons, while maintenance costs are reduced by over 50%. This breakthrough marks China’s first entry into the 600 million-ton era for high-manganese steel railway frogs.
